KEIM mineral paints - Who we are
PAINTS WITH TRADITION
The cornerstone of our success story was laid when the craftsman and natural scientist Adolf Wilhelm Keim was granted the patent for the mineral paints he developed in 1878. The so-called 'KEIM Mineral Paints' are considered synonymous with colour brilliance and unrivaled longevity. And the working principle of their unequaled longevity has always remained the same up to today: the silicate binder water glass forms an inseparable chemical bond with the mineral substrate during the chemical process of so-called silicification. Peeling paint layers, such as those known from synthetic resin paints, are excluded in the case of a mineral-silicate coating.
PAINTS FOR PEOPLE AND ARCHITECTURE
The development of innovative and even revolutionary products is visible throughout the long history of our company. Mineral paints by KEIM are a constant feature in architectural history of the 20th and 21st century: from the Historicist Movement via Art Nouveau and Bauhaus through to today‘s spectacular deconstructivist buildings. For generations, they have inspired renowned architects, craftsmen and artists and are used wherever high aesthetic, health and building physics demands are placed on architecture and colour design.
PAINTS WITH SYSTEM
Today, we are the world's leading specialist for mineral building protection systems producing the most durable, purely mineral-based paints and system solutions for building exteriors and interiors. With products and services ranging from mineral plasters and fillers, wood systems, products for concrete repair and concrete cosmetics to thermal insulation systems for interior and exterior spaces as well as natural stone systems.

Vision and strategy
Adolf Wilhelm Keim felt an obligation to sustainability long before it had become a catchword. Up until today this premise shapes the way we think and do business way beyond the innovative use of natural raw materials, by creating regional jobs, showing due appreciation for our employees and being careful in the way we handle our limited resources.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION FOR PAINTING
Adolf Wilhelm Keim (1851-1913) is well-known not only for the mineral colours named after him, which are still produced by KEIM today.
In 1884 he founded the 'Technische Mitteilungen für Malerei' to inform about commercial paints and paints and to clarify grievances in the paint industry.
Today, the 'Technische Mitteilungen für Malerei' are among the main sources of art technology and restoration history. They are available for research online.
KEIM. CONSISTENTLY MINERAL!
The basis of every mineral colour of KEIM is the so-called "mineral principle" . Our secret recipe is the unique composition of binder, pigment, filler and additive.
Water glass - a natural binder - ensures ingenious adhesion of the paint on the substrate.
This principle makes KEIM silicate paints extremely durable, ecological and economical. A high colour brilliance is guaranteed - even over decades!
