What ETICS insulation materials are available?
Wood fibre
Wood fibre has the best insulating properties and an excellent ecological balance. Together with the mineral plaster and paint systems from KEIM, facades can be insulated in a particularly durable, resistant and sustainable way - and not only in timber frame construction. The new lightweight wood fibre boards make insulation particularly attractive in solid construction when renovating one and two-family houses.
Mineral wool
Mineral wool insulation boards are primarily made from naturally occurring rocks and are non-combustible. A darker colour design is possible on systems with mineral wool or rock wool boards. With KEIM AquaRoyal-MW, a system is available in the mineral wool area that also has optimum moisture management and reduces algae and mould formation.
Polystyrene (EPS)
Today, polystyrene (EPS) is used in more than 50% of all facade insulation with ETICS. The insulation material is easy to process and the systems are normally flame-retardant or flame-retardant with special fire protection measures. Dark coloured coatings can also be applied to EPS with KEIM. There are reservations about the insulation material mainly from a fire protection perspective.
