Practice Wiesendeck VohenstrauรŸ

The wave-shaped "Wiesendeck" building in VohenstrauรŸ (district of Neustadt/Upper Palatinate) is a real eye-catcher. Architect Volker Schwab and Alexander Riedl, Holzbau Riedl from Waldthurn-Lennesrieth, realised the project with a very high demand for sustainability. Together with the clients, the ecological idea was important to them from the very beginning.

The highly insulated KfW efficiency building was erected in a construction time of only 9 months.

Wood plays the most important role in the choice of materials: from the rough-sawn wooden faรงade to the solid wood roof ceiling and the design of the interiors. The KEIM Lignosil-Verano pre-greying glaze was used for the wood protection of the facade. KEIM Lignosil-Verano simulates a greyed, patinated surface as it is created by several years of weathering on natural wood. The product is part of the KEIM Lignosil system, with which the KEIM developers succeeded for the first time 10 years ago in transferring the principle of silicate paint to the substrate wood. KEIM Lignosil-Verano has been awarded the Cradle to Cradle Certifiedยฎ certificate in silver as well as the C2C Certified Material Health CertificateTM Level Gold.

The building, which houses a doctor's practice, looks as if it has been pushed into the surrounding meadow. The intention was to "intervene in nature in a minimally invasive way", says Volker Schwab. It doesn't get any greener than this.
