Farmhouse near Presteigne

This late 18th Century, Grade II listed former farmhouse near Presteigne in Powys, Wales was in need of some TLC.

The decorator, Alan Jones, recommended KEIM to the owner after using the products on his own property and a local church.

There was evidence of thick algae and green growth on the East elevation, around the downpipe on the West elevation and chimney stack. The algae growth was removed using a wire brush and treated with KEIM Algicid, which is suitable for both removal of and protection from mould and algae.

KEIM Soldalit Fixativ was applied to all the areas; the limewash, the lime pointing and the stone walls to equalise the porosity of the surface.

The property was then decorated with KEIM Soldalit 9095 to provide breathability and resistance against mould and algae.

The owner commented “I think you will be ‘wowed’ by the transformation. While the visual finish is fantastic, for me the technical advantage is the biggest thing – I have to keep reminding myself, this is my house and I do live here!!”
