Plaza Mayor y Casa de la PanaderΓa

The history of the most popular square in Madrid dates back to the 16th century. In 1590, construction began on the Casa de la PanaderΓa, which was the first building in the new square. Its facade was decorated with frescoes from the beginning. During the last major restoration of the building in the early 1990s, the damaged plaster was renewed and the facade was decorated with the current mural of mythological figures by Madrid artist Carlos Franco, using KEIM decorative paints. It is a great example of the unparalleled durability of the silicate technique, and it is only a matter of time before this work joins the list of centuries-old facades painted with KEIM. In 2015, the remaining facades of the square were painted with KEIM Soldalit opaque. Two generations of KEIM colours harmonise with each other to form a noble and timeless ensemble that is a great attraction for tourists and residents of the capital alike.
