The Palace Madrid Hotel

One of Madrid’s most iconic buildings shines again! The 8,000 m² facade of the historic Hotel Palace (1912) has been faithfully restored using KEIM mineral paints. The restoration process integrated sophisticated scientific techniques alongside the expertise of restoration specialists and craftspeople from various trades. Multiple layers of previous paintwork had to be removed, with sampling and laboratory analyses conducted to determine historically accurate colours for their subsequent restoration. Two main colours were identified: a beige shade applied to general facade surfaces, simulating limestone, and a reddish-brown hue mimicking terracotta, used for decorative features and ornamental detailing. These colours were specifically reproduced for the Hotel Palace project by KEIM. Following the application of a consolidating transparent silicate primer, KEIM Soldalit was used for the flat surfaces, while KEIM Restauro-Lasur were applied to cornices, brackets, and ornaments, thereby enhancing volumes and textures.
