Santuario di Santa Maria dell'Isola - Tropea
The Benedictine sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola is the unmistakable symbol of the town of Tropea. Built by the Benedictines in early medieval style, it was rebuilt several times following various earthquakes, eventually becoming a Latin basilica during the Renaissance. Now fully restored with the help and expertise of KEIM, the church is located on top of a small, picturesque strip of land jutting out towards the sea, at the foot of the sandstone cliff on which the town of Tropea stands.
