Banco di Vita | Chiara Capobianco - Catania
On the faΓ§ade of the Bank of Italy branch in Catania shines Banco di vita, a massive mural of over 750 square meters by Roman artist Chiara Capobianco, commissioned by the Bank itself. By decorating the building of its branch, the Bank of Italy aimed not only to renew the aesthetic of the space it occupies, but also to promote its values and send a message of social responsibility in support of the community living in the San Berillo districtβoverlooked by the branchβand which has long struggled with neglect and decay.
To bring this message to life, the Bank chose the fresh and intuitive visual language of Chiara Capobianco, who portrayed Catania by turning her gaze directly toward the city itself, studying its history and observing its street life and community, which she sees as treasures worth protecting.
In Banco di vita, a composition comes to life that, while playing with the architecture of the buildingβan excellent example of brutalist architectureβrepresents a society that is disordered, chaotic, and endlessly full of life.
