Walker & Sharpe, 37 George Street, Dumfries

Walker & Sharpe, 37 George Street is a large town centre commercial building located in Dumfries. When we first visited this property, the previously painted surfaces were in poor condition. The paint was flaking, especially in the basement area, which was due to moisture vapour being trapped. Most of the existing coatings were power washed off and repairs were done using KEIM Spachtel. Some of the surfaces were contaminated with algae, moss and vegetation, to which we recommended the use of KEIM Algicid. Onto all bare surfaces in the basement area, KEIM Silan Primer was used in a flood coat manner to resist the passage of some waterborne salts. We advocated a two coat KEIM Soldalit system, the first coat was KEIM Soldalit Grob, which obliterated any hairline cracks and gave an even slightly textured surface. Followed by a final coat of KEIM Soldalit to give a breathable, durable and decorative mineral matt finish.
