German Sustainability Award 2026
On 5 December 2025, our Managing Director Rüdiger Lugert and our Chief Sustainability Officer Peter Treitz were honoured to receive the German Sustainability Award 2026. We were named the winner in the coatings and paints category by a high-calibre jury of experts. The German Sustainability Award is Europe's largest award for ecological and social commitment. The award ceremony took place in Düsseldorf as part of the two-day transformation congress #DNP25.
The jury praised us as a "sustainable pioneer in the paint industry and a driving force for a construction industry that balances ecological responsibility and functional requirements." In its statement, it went on to say: "KEIMFARBEN impresses with an exceptionally consistent and long-term sustainability strategy that sets standards both at the product level and in corporate management."
Sustainable action has shaped our company for almost 150 years. Even our company founder, A. W. Keim, felt a sense of responsibility towards future generations: "We want to live, work, struggle, fight and care for our fellow human beings, work for our descendants so that things will be better on earth." This attitude continues to shape us today. We have repeatedly demonstrated our pioneering role in sustainability: in 1993, we launched KEIM Biosil, the first healthy interior paint on the market, and later received the world's first natureplus certifications for interior and facade paints. Since 2022, our products have carried the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver certificate and the Material Health Certificate™ in Gold. We have increased the number of certified products from an initial 65 to 80 in 2024 – that's over 85% of our global paint sales. This makes us one of the leading companies in the construction industry.
