Alnatura Campus

Where once army barracks and tank halls stood, there is now a unique "work, study, recreational and meeting place" with offices, a Waldorf kindergarten, a vegetarian organic restaurant and numerous leases and adventure gardens.

Meaningful for man and earth

The heart of the new headquarter of the German supermarket for organic food "Alnatura" is the Alnatura work environment - an open office landscape for up to 500 employees. This building is undoubtedly an ecological statement. But that is not all: according to the company philosophy "Meaningful for man and earth", - sustainability, transparency and social corporate culture were clear requirements for the development of the new administrative centre.

Another special feature: The office building is made of clay. With a gross floor area of โ€‹โ€‹13,500 square meters, it is Europe's largest clay building. For this complex building task, the commissioned architects haascookzemmrich STUDIO2050 from Stuttgart, Germany, appointed well-known planners for statics, climate and clay construction.

Ecological building materials

Natural, low-emission and recyclable building materials help the building achieve a good life-cycle assessment and contribute to a healthy working environment. Clay is pollutant-free and also absorbs pollutants and odors from the indoor air and neutralizes them. In addition, clay has the ability to absorb and release water very quickly, thus naturally regulating the indoor climate. In addition to clay and glass, wood is the most important building material in the interior. The visible wooden surfaces of the ceiling construction and cladding were coated with white glazing and form a quiet, unobtrusive backdrop for the lively office landscape.

In the spirit of the ecologically sustainable overall concept, a vapor-permeable coating with the mineral wood color KEIM Lignosil-Inco DL was obvious. Treated wood retains its natural hygroscopic properties and contributes to a pleasant indoor climate. Added to this is the general health safety of the application of paint -  also withstanding the strictest building requirements, its mineral-matt, colour-stable appearance and last but not least convincing in terms of economic efficiency.
